slightly larger, slightly chaotic
the past few weeks i have been working on creating several large sheets of paint in order increase the scale of my sculptural paintings or painterly sculpture, it works both ways. as well as producing ideas for several prints, that include both imagery and text or just text after I realized I was getting too complicated.
paintings as layers
different things i have tried, to bring the idea of paintings for each layer during the process of making the sheets. taken with the awesome camera phone in multiple exciting angles.
definitely interesting to replicate a four inch drawing from my sketchbook into a ten foot painting.
-bonus-
a fashion design student wanted to experiment with some scraps of paint sheets i had. maybe future collaboration.
the four tests
pushing myself to create larger scale pieces, i have begun to explore the manipulation of my paintings (sheets of paint) by draping over objects. in doing so i have discovered new forms and new ways to begin to come off the wall.
shavings, splatter, sandpaint (part 3)
the white area on the left is a sheet of paint that has had 10 layers applied. what i am showing is the process of the the 11th and last layer which consists of me just adding color. this sheet was created specifically for the 10 foot pillars. oh and the sheet's dimensions are roughly 5x22 feet.
